I recently went through the 3 -month mark following a total hip replacement on 12th November 2018. Dr Kidd was my anaesthetist and I could not have wished for a better overall outcome and support from him. Not only did Dr Kidd meet me pre-op in my room and just before theatre, putting me compeletely at ease, but he also followed up with visits on subsequent mornings to check on my progress and help keep my spirits up. I know very little of anaesthetic procedures but what I can say is that my last memory before my operation was some music playing in the pre-op theatre and my first consciousness after the op was being wheeled into the recovery room, pain free, and being told all was well. I was walking with zimmer that afternoon. My conclusion is that therefore that not only was Dr Kidd super in terms of his interactions with me, he was spot on in terms of how my anaesthetic treatment was delivered. I very much hope that Dr Kidd will be looking after me again when I have my next hip done in due course!

The minute you have the pleasure of meeting Dr Kidd , ( which is pretty soon after you arrive in your room) you know you’ll be in safe hands.I came in for a revision hip replacement and was very anxious due to previous operations but Dr Kidd, with his fantastic bedside manner and great sense of humour immediately put me at ease. He genuinely listened to me and I knew from the outset that he respected my concerns. During the sedation period he and I were chatting away quite merrily then the next thing I knew it was all over..literally as easy as that. Having had 2 operations last year the difference in the whole approach was amazing. I didn’t come round feeling really groggy or sick..as I said, it was amazing...I told him how different I felt from my previous experiences, having taken ages to come round and feel “normal” again...this time, totally different. Dr Kidd came to visit me after my operation and I thanked him for making things appear so easy. I was in quite a lot of pain as I’d opted out of the spinal block and just had GA so he organised drugs for me to help me sleep later that night as I was finding it very difficult to get off to sleep..something which he took the time to explain why. Dr Kidd visited again to see how I was, which I was very impressed with, his patient care before and after is just exceptional. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Dr Kidd to anyone, he is a very caring, compassionate..(.and very funny ) man who should be very proud of what he does and who he is. I sincerely cannot thank him enough.

Dr Kidd was very good at the start of the operation clarifying what would happen which was reassuring. His manner was very relaxed and helped me to relax too. Following the operation I woke up with no side effects and I was in very little discomfort. Dr Kidd made the effort to come and see me on 3 occasions which was reassuring and he explained the Recovery process clearly.

Dr Kidd was friendly and put me at my ease and explained exactly how my anesthesia would be carried out for my knee replacement surgery. All went to plan as far as I know (I only witnessed the sedation part - after that I was asleep) My operation proceeded as expected. Dr Kidd visited me afterwards. All in all a very good experience with Dr Kidd at St Anthony's Hospital, Cheam.

Dr Sandy Kidd is not only an excellent, conscientious & hard-working anaesthetist, but also a very pleasant chap with a good bedside manner. I am sure Not easy for to deal with a fellow healthcare professional as a patient (for my hip replacement), but he was “spot-on” I Much appreciated his skill in adminitering my spinal block & sedation, an excellent tecnique, which thanfully removed all awareness & anxiety. From patient’s perspective, just like GA wothout untoward after-effects.
